Abstract
One in a Billion is a series of oil paintings of leaves. Not about nature, but about value – how something overlooked and fragile can hold an entire world of resilience.
Story
This was my first oil painting series. I began with a single ordinary leaf — common and unremarkable. During the pandemic, I often thought about how such a small fragment could carry growth, decay, and endurance all at once. It reminded me of the people from that same period: unremarkable, but fighting to keep their families afloat. Quiet resilience, often overlooked, holding one’s life together.
Process
I painted three leaves in oil, layering texture and color to capture the details of each leaf. Each canvas isolates the leaf against empty space, shifting the attention from the background to the intricate details of the leaves.
